centered: grounded conversations about the metaphysical.
Yup, Centered—the name of my podcast and my goal in life. To feel grounded on the Earth in the middle place between extremes. I want to start from the center, like the sacred spiral, unwinding complex ideas in clear, earthy ways. And then I say, as my tag line: Grounded conversations about the metaphysical.
I can hear you ask, “Metaphysical? What the heck do you mean by that?” While the “metaphysical” is notoriously difficult to define, I see it as topics that go beyond the physical. Metaphysical issues are those devoted to existence, truth, love, abstract thoughts, the soul, justice, and spirituality.
I love talking about the spiritual, however that shows up in life and the pain of being human. Suffering happens to us all, and I am not in the least bit interested in bypassing the full experience of being human—grief, addiction, recovery, trauma, healing, death, anxiety, depression, mental illness, joy, parenting, caregiving, love, breakups and divorce, loneliness, and how we deal.
I offer monthly episodes with Tarot, Astrology and Earth Medicine allies; episodes where I answer questions from my listeners; other episodes where I share my writing, and of course, I love having episodes with guests where we explore their special interest or a topic we both love to talk about. I am not interested in promoting things (though I totally promote your things when you are a guest), but rather I am interested in authentic natural conversation with fellow healers, space holders, religious leaders, psychologists and therapists, artists, raconteurs, circle keepers, medicine people, storytellers, weirdos, troublemakers, and psychics.
I started Centered for that exact reason—the conversations with my people. In my circle of friends, colleagues, comrades, and intellectuals, I find I go deep quickly, and we end up laughing, exploring the nooks and crannies of life. Honestly these convos blow my mind and open my consciousness. I wanted to bottle it and pass it out to my students and clients. In 2020, I started this podcast which has been an amazing addition to my weekly explorations into spirituality, soul work, tarot, earth medicine, and creative, magickal work.
You may be saying, “Angie, why do you have a podcast? What makes you qualified?”
Well, I am wordy and talky. I like to talk to people about their special interests (sorry for the neurodivergent language, but I yam what I yam). I am a nerd and a research monkey, while I enjoy the wanderings of a good conversation. I have my degree in Religion from Temple University, but I first majored in Journalism, attending Indiana University’s High School Journalism Institute. I can ask a good question. I listen. I talk. I like to laugh. I make obscure references. I invite others to nerd out with me.
got a question for me?
Not just a question, but something you don’t want to google. because you want to hear the deep dive down the rabbit hole from a nerdy research goofball who likes to laugh & tell a good story while breaking complex things down in easy ways. I am working on getting back to more podcasts episodes, and I love our Q&A episodes, so ask away, friends. I also have contacts and friends from all walks of life who can help me, if I know nothing. And then I will ask questions and be the curious quizzical girl sitting in the front row of your freshman seminar. I specialize in religion (the history, philosophy, theology & sociology of world religions), woo-woo shit, ancient greek mythology & folklore; recovery, healing, psychology, pop culture, trauma & healing; witchiness & magick; earth medicine; parenting, meditation and self-care, and of course, the pain of being a human.
i’ll cover it on my podcast. Just hit the button to send your question to me. Also feel free to rate and review my podcast. It helps me and my audience. Thank you for supporting my work!
Abrazos y besos, Angelica
do you think you would make a good podcast guest or have a great conversation with angie?
You do? I think so too. I’d love to explore this idea. I really want to make sure it is a good fit for my half-woo-woo, half-logical with a dash of irreverent humor and served in a sarcastic mug. Just send me an email making sure you answer these questions:
Who are you?
What’s your email address?
What is your background?
Do you have a special area of study or any special interests?
What do you want to talk about?
Why are you qualified to talk about it? (By the way, this question doesn’t have to be a list of degrees, lived experience is A-OK with me! I’d just like to know about that too.)
What perspectives do you want to take or elucidate with this conversation?
Are you promoting something and can we get beyond this sounding like an infomercial about whatever you are promoting?
How do you know Angie? Or how did you find my podcast?
