Distance Muertos Cacao Ceremony + Shamanic Journey
Distance Muertos Cacao Ceremony + Shamanic Journey
Angie will begin this ancestor-focused healing circle with Cacao ceremony. Bring your own cacao or order when you are signing up for the circle. During Cacao, we will discuss the work we do with ancestral energy, our lineage, our karma. There will be some journaling & processing prior to our shamanic journey, so we can maximize our time with the ancestors. Then, Angie will guide each participant into a shamanic journey into the Lower World to meet the ancestors. This shamanic journey focuses on understanding, healing, releasing, &/or integrating karmic & ancestral wisdom, patterns, & wounds. While we will have some basic healing through a distance proxy for grounding, balancing & stabilizing the chakras, soothing + repairing the auric field & facilitating release using crystals, plants + flowers, Reiki, as well as rattle, drum, chakapa + other earth healing techniques. We will spend time after the event processing our journeys. This event is held on Zoom only, but is recorded if you cannot attend live. Accessing the powerful energy of Diá de los Muertos, as we tap into the healing energy of release, & deep protection while we honor grief, the dead +. working with the abuelitas + ancestors. Magickal, divination, shadow work & spirit work performed at this time often has a potent energy that carries all year.
Please set up a small altar in honor of the ancestor you want to work with. Include a photo, candle, something to cleanse with, like herbal bundle, hydrosol or candle, and any personal items or symbols of your family you wish to bring. Travel altars for Diá de los Muertos available as an add-on to this event (see below at checkout, or order separately). This event is held over Zoom & will be recorded if you cannot attend live.
If you cannot attend live, the session will be recorded for you to access whenever you would like. All participants will be sent a recording to rewatch or use whenever they would like.
This live Circle was held Friday, November 1, 2025 from 11 am EST until 2 pm EST If you purchase this listing, you will receive access to the recordings of our journey and processing,.
Each participant is asked to bring cacao or cacao adjacent drink to our circle, like a heart opening tea or a cacao tea.
NOTE: Unfortunately, I am unable to send Cacao or an altar for the ceremony after Monday, October 29th due to new shipping guarantees, which makes the arrival time on or after Friday. Reach out if you want to take a chance, but otherwise, please consider sourcing your own cacao. Please look for Cacao from the Americas, as African Cacao relies on child and slave labor, and is unethically sourced.
Cacao has some contraindications, but in higher doses. This contraindications are from Embue Cacao where I buy my cacao and am formally training to hold Cacao Ceremony:
In most cases, there are no concerns to be aware of. Drinking cacao is akin to eating dark chocolate. The considerations listed below mainly come into play in higher doses, like when we have the ceremonial drink with 1.5 - 2 ounces of cacao. In these cases, the combination of potent cacao and a higher dose warrants some additional mindfulness.
First, if you are working with it ceremonially, we recommend that you start off with about half the full dose. A full dose, the maximum we use, is 2 ounces, so that means starting off with 1 ounce. See how it feels and wait at least 30 minutes before consuming more.
Cacao is a strong bitter and stimulant, so there are some potential side effects to be aware of, as well as certain specific contra-indications. Since cacao is consumed in higher doses in ceremony, people might experience symptoms such as being lightheaded, sweaty palms, headache or nausea. Simply slow down, drink water and practice self-care as needed until symptoms subside. Cacao can also stimulant detox symptoms in some cases. If this happens, take it as a blessing and drink plenty of water as your body lets go of whatever it didn’t like. This will likely be accentuated for people on a raw diet or who are fasting. Go with lower doses in this case.
Certain anti-depressants are worth extra consideration. MAOI based anti-depressants are contraindicated with the tyramine in chocolate, so a larger dose of cacao is not recommended. MAOI based anti-depressants are first generation anti-depressants and are less common these days. People taking them are on a restricted diet that includes limiting or avoiding chocolate, so they should know if they can consume or not. Side effects could include more serious headache and nausea, so make sure to check medications first. Additionally, there has been some concern with larger doses of cacao and SSRI type anti-depressants, because of the MAOI's in cacao. Specifically, the tryptophan, a type of MAOI which is a pre-cursor to serotonin has been cited by some as a possible contraindication. The research about this interaction is minimal, but studies on both the amounts of tryptophan in chocolate and how that might cause 'serotonin syndrome' don't indicate any problem. However, to be on the safe side, for those on SSRI's, we suggest consulting with your doctor and/or pharmacist regarding higher doses of cacao and to consider starting with low doses.
Serious heart conditions. The theobromine in cacao increases heart rate significantly and is a vasodilator, lowering blood pressure. If you have such a condition, consider consulting a physician and certainly go lighter on amounts.
Pregnancy & breastfeeding. Like coffee or tea, it is important to reduce the intake of stimulating foods. The theobromine in cacao, which is very similar to caffeine, has a stimulating effect. Thus we recommend using lower dosages (ex. a maximum of 1oz in a ceremonial drink).
Pure cacao can be fatal to dogs (and possibly horses and parrots) so be sure to keep it away from pets.
If any symptoms do present, drink lots of water, get some rest and it will pass.
Angie will send cacao or tea alternative if you do not have your own. If ordered before 10/25/24 (only in the US) with an extra cost.(listed below)
Just choose with cacao or tea alternatives when you check out. You can also use any herbal tea as an alternative. Since we are working with the heart, you may want to choose rose tea.
Angie offers alternatives to those wanting to participate:
Love Tea from Mountain Rose Herbs (may contain some caffeine from the cacao nibs): Ingredients Organic damiana leaf, organic roasted cacao nibs, organic roasted carob, organic orange peel, organic rose petals, organic cassia cinnamon chips, organic vanilla tea flavoring.
Grateful Heart from Mountain Rose Herbs: Ingredients Organic hawthorn leaf and flower, organic lemon balm, organic rosehips, organic dandelion leaf, organic ginkgo, organic oatstraw, organic bilberry fruit, organic hawthorn berries, organic ginger, organic lemon peel, and organic motherwort.
Cacao Tea from Fifth Element Cacao. Made with love in Paxil and Kayala (Guatemala), This tea is made from the husk or bean shell that covers the cacao beans. After the beans of our cacao are wood-fire roasted, the cacao gets peeled by hand, and the husk or shell that comes from it becomes our healthy and delicious cacao tea! Cacao Tea is incredibly high in antioxidants and flavonoids. It fights free radicals and helps reduce inflammation of the body. It helps stabilize blood pressure. It stabilizes serotonin, helping create a state of happiness. Contains theobromine, which is a caffeine-free source of energy, and is considered a mood regulator, improves heart health, improves the respiratory system, increases cognitive function after consumption, and much more. Since it is free from sugar, gluten, and it has no additives at all, cacao tea is low in calories. Cacao tea is a great alternative for people who can't drink 100% ceremonial cacao paste. If you have an ulcer, are taking anti-depressant or anti-anxiety medication, if you are taking medication for epilepsy, and some other chemical medications for mental health issues, you might not be able to drink 100% ceremonial cacao paste. BUT in that case this amazing cacao tea is a great alternative, and you can definitely drink it! (of course, in balance and a reasonable daily quantity).
If you are outside of the US, please reach out at angie@themoonandstone.com and I will send you an invoice. I have had some issues with foreign orders. I do not send Cacao overseas, but you can be part of circle. Thank you so much for understanding.
Note for all who order ceremony without cacao: Unfortunately, I am unable to remove the shipping $ for this one, so I am setting the price to $42, since shipping is $8=$50 you will be collectively charged. I apologize for this weirdness.
